YELLOWTAIL FISHING IMPROVES AT CORONADO ISLAND
May 22, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:
Loreto fishing weather has been very sunny and calm during the week. Fisherman have had a very good time with this weather, as has everybody else in the Loreto vacation area.
Yellowtail fishing has been better than the previous week. Most of the anglers are finding action on the northeast side of Coronado Island, and some over on the south side of Carmen Island. They were very lucky, catching yellowtail in different sizes, averaging 15 to 30 pounds, and about two yellowtail per boat.
Our captains caught their first dorado, and some were huge. Their weight was between 38 and 45 pounds.
There were some marlin and sailfish caught at Loreto this week. Right now, it is a pleasure to let everybody know the season for these big fish has started.
While the fishermen are looking for yellowtail, their hookups are bringing some seabass and red snapper, which is good for them. The only thing is that they are not as big as the other types of fish.
Mackerel and bigeye bait is available at Coronado Island or from the marina by catching your own, or at a price of 10 pieces for $15, and 20 pieces for $25. Sardina are also available at the harbor early in the morning.
