ABOUT 18 BOATS PER DAY GOING OUT
May 21, 2005, Bill Currie, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:
I just got back today from a week's fishing in Loreto.
The first fishing day, I caught a 35 pound amberjack, on a live caballito, in 180 feet of water, at Punta Lobos on Carmen Island, using 60 lb test, and a 6/0 live bait hook.
The second fishing day, I only caught a cabrilla at Punta Mangala.
The third day, I fished at Punta Perrico and caught cabrilla to 18 lbs. Also pargo up to 15 lbs.
The fourth day, I went up north to Pulpito. I caught 3 yellowtail to 20 lbs., using 6X Salas Jrs. in blue and white. I also caught pargo up to 26 lbs. using live caballito.
Overall Loreto fishing was slow. There was not a lot of bait, but some for sale, hot weather in the low 90s, water temperature 80 degrees, not a lot of pangas out fishing.
I fished with Vallente Davis on the Katy. There were about 18 boats fishing per day.
There was plenty of gas on the roads.
