YELLOWTAIL COUNTS DOWN AT ABOUT 2 FISH PER BOAT

May 29, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:

The fishing weather in the Loreto vacation area has been very variable during the week. Some days were very foggy. We also had a lot of north wind early yesterday, as a consequence of a local storm, but later in the day we went fishing even in the bad weather.

Loreto had a slow fishing week for yellowtail. Few were captured. I think the best catches were only two per boat.

For dorado, the number one factor is finding them in the bad weather. The dorado schools haven't arrived as they normally do at this time of the year, so this year the Loreto dorado fishing season is coming a little bit late.

Cabrilla fishing is helping a lot to have better fishing days. Cabrilla are biting over on different reefs, such as Carmen, Coronada, and Monserrato Islands.

There are small roosterfish and the fishermen are enjoying catching them over on the east side of Isla Carmen across from Loreto.

Mackerel and bigeye baits are available to catch at Isla Coronado, or buy them at the marina. Also sardina are available early in the morning at the Loreto marina.
