STEADY COUNTS FOR SAILFISH AND STRIPED MARLIN

July 4, 2005, Pam Bolles, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:

Most boats that ventured offshore Loreto for billfish caught and released at least one but more frequently more than one. It seemed to be either sailfish or marlin. Captain Antonio Romero's boat landed an estimated 250 pound striped marlin, released after photographing.

Keith Wilson got tired of catching so many sailfish on the fly he lost count. He also saw an estimated 50 pound tuna jump right out of the water in front of them.

Captain Francisco Muñoz also saw tuna yesterday and again today. Another private boater reported dozens of Sailfish and Marlin just 5 miles beyond Isla Coronado. The Vagabundo del Mar tournament is on but with very few Dorado to be had out there.
