FISHING WITH CAPT. RIGOBERTO DAVIS
Jan. 1, 2006, Bob Meyer, Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico Sportfishing Report:
Fishing in Loreto over the holidays was spotty. There were yellowtail but they were constantly moving. Yesterday's hot spot was today's skunk hole. I and my sons Chris and Elliott, who were visiting for the holidays, got lucky on Monday, Dec. 26th, with captain Rigoberto Davis. We caught 7 yellowtail, ranging in size from 28 to 36 pounds, north of Coronado Island.
The water temperature was 67 degrees. Monday the 26th was a beautiful day with calm seas.
We were fishing from our boat, a 20-foot Baja Bayrunner named "Mi Suerte."
The only bad days were early the week before, Dec. 19 to 21 or so. Then the weather was wonderful until about Wednesday, Dec. 28, then nice again.
Our captain is Rigoberto Davis, a neighbor and good friend. His boat is the "Arantxa." It is a new super panga. His phone number is 011-52-613-135-0481. He's been a fishermen in Loreto all his life. His father used to guide for the Oasis. He knows his stuff, has a great sense of humor, never gets ruffled.
