EXCELLENT SUMMER DORADO BITE CONTINUES FOR LOCAL SPORTFISHING BOATS
July 8, 2006, Patty Zapata, Hotel Oasis, Excellent summer dorado fishing continues at Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico:
This whole week, there was excellent Baja California Sur fishing action for dorado at Loreto. Most of the anglers came back with their limits. Loreto sportfishing area weather conditions were excellent and hot, with calm seas and one or two days light breeze.
Fishing on Sunday July 2, three pangas went out 9 miles east of Punta Lobos, 15 and 20 miles off Coronado Island and combined produced 10 Dorado. The biggest was 25 pounds and smaller 16 pounds. Anglers were Jan Anderson, Miguel Marín, Eric García, Roberto Carrillo and Tony Gayou. Bait was Mackerel with P-Line 30 pound and Hook 5. Skippers were Antonio Davis Castro, Felipe Romero.
The same day another 4 pangas fished northeast of Coronado Island to Bajo Las Boyas, 30 miles, for 16 Dorados between 22 and 16 Pounds. The captains were Martín Davis Castro, Antonio Davis Castro, Isidro Mendoza, Martín Perpuli, Francisco Martínez Junior, Alejandro Rubio, and Juan Pablo Davis Sánchez. The anglers were Eric García, José Espinoza, Ryan Davidson, and Mike Mcintosh.
Fishing at Loreto on Monday July 3, 5 pangas had a combined production of 22 dorado between 34-1/2 and 16 pounds. The skippers were Martín Davis Castro, Martín Perpuli, Antonio Davis Castro, Francisco Martínez Jr. and Joselino Murillo. The anglers were Carl Blackledge & friend, Scott Robinson, Matt Moitozzo & wife and Steve Benjamin & Mike Kitchell, and Jim Perry. The area fished was 20 miles northeast Coronado Island.
On Tuesday July 4, 10 pangas from Loreto fished out 20 miles northeast Coronado Island and combined produced 40 Dorados between 36.5 and 17 Pounds.
On Wednesday July 5, 22 loreto sportfishing pangas went out to the same fishing area 20 miles northeast of Coronado Island and combined produced 91 Dorados between 38 pounds and 18 Pounds.
On Friday July 7, 6 Pangas produced 20 Dorados, the biggest 39 Pounds and smaller 17 pounds and one marlin of 60 pounds, and released 11.
Same day another 8 Loreto pangas went out and fished same area with a combined production of 36 Dorados biggest 37 pounds and smaller 17 pounds and 2 Yellowtail of 22 pounds each.
On Saturday July 8, 3 pangas went east of Coronado Island and combined produced 11 Dorados between 41 pounds and 15 pounds.
