MANGROVE ESTERO FISHING IS SLOW WITH BAIT SCARCE

Aug. 27, 2005, Gary Graham, Baja On The Fly, Magdalena Bay, Mexico Fishing Report:

The Magdalena Bay entrada south of San Carlos continued to produce good fishing including grouper, yellowtail and a few sierra as well. If you are looking for something a little larger, there has been a pretty good marlin show at 240-210 degrees, five miles off. Enrique Soto reported that the Magdalena Bay mangrove esteros were slow with little bait to be found anywhere.

Fishing up at Puerto Lopez Mateos, outside the boca there has been plenty of good-sized dorado to provide nonstop action. Also, there’s plenty of small yellowtail to be found.

Further outside Magdalena Bay at the Thetis Bank, there were also reports of a fair show of marlin.

Magdalena Bay water temperature was 62-80 degrees; Air temperature 74-86 degrees; Conditions clear.
