SPORTFISHING SUPER PANGAS CATCH EASY BOTTOM FISH LIMITS

Sept. 17, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Fleet Report:

Still averaging a couple of billfish per boat day fished and a fair mix of dorado, some in the larger, 35-45 lb. ranges.

Mazatlan inshore sportfishing super pangas are limiting easily on snappers and yellowtail on the bottom fishing and still catching dorado and an occasional sailfish at the buoys.

The fleet, reporting for 7 fishing days reflected 1 small blue marlin released, 2 stripers released and 9 sailfish, (8 released) along with 24 dorado.

Mazatlan Climate: Warm & humid with occasional P.M. showers, temps ranging from 72 nights to 90 daytime highs

Mazatlan Fishing Sea Conditions: Calm to moderate, but very fishable, temps from 85-86 degrees

Best Mazatlan Fishing Area: 25-28 miles southwest of the Marina El Cid for the billfish and dorado mostly from the buoys.

Best Lure/Bait: Most of the billfish are being taken on rigged trolling baits, but the blue was taken on an orange/green artificial.
