PLENTY OF SAILFISH STILL BITING FOR OFFSHORE CHARTERS

Oct. 21, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing:

The sailfish action continues and more yellowfin tuna showing up in the counts. Both inshore and Mazatlan offshore charter fishing has been productive for the anglers and the billfish counts remain high, above the 2 per boat day levels.

Overall counts for 18 Mazatlan fishing days reflected 2 blue marlin released, 45 sailfish, (34 released) 27 yellowfin to 37 lbs. 18 dorado and 1 wahoo.

Inshore, the super pangas reported 58 sierra, 3 roosterfish, 3 jack crevalle, 25 pargos 3 red snapper & 15 cochis for a genuine smorgasbord.

Mazatlan Climate: 68 nights to 90 daytime highs, partly cloudy and a westerly breeze of about 10 knots

Sea conditions: A little wind chop from the west, temps ranged from 85-86

Best Mazatlan Fishing Area: Remains southwest of the Marina El Cid from 20-25 miles

Best lure/Bait: Rigged baits remained very good for the sails with some fish taken on green & black artificials.
