OFFSHORE CATCHES DROP FOR ARIES FLEET SPORTFISHING BOATS

April 8, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:

Mazatlan offshore sportfishing catches for billfish were way down for the week, as the area has been hit hard with the cooler waters and moved the fish to new locations for the moment. However, the inshore fishing at Mazatlan continues to be very good and with a wide variation that reflected 9 different species, including pargo, botetes, roncachos, corvina, cabrilla, cochitos, mojarras, loras, and toros. Overall catches for Aries Fleet offshore boats for 27 days reflected 2 sailfish released, 4 mako shark, 6 dorado and 18 yellowfin tuna.

Mazatlan fishing area weather was partly cloudy, but with very nice days, and temperatures ranging from 52 degree nights to 84 degrees

Mazatlan sea conditions had cooler waters of 69-70 degrees both inshore and offshore, very light breezes, and a little off color.

No Mazatlan fishing area was listed as best, as the skipper's searched far and wide to try and make a catch. Both billfish were taken on rigged trolling baits and the tuna were taken on feathers.
