STAR FLEET LANDING ABOUT 4 BLUE MARLIN PER WEEK

July 29, 2005, Bill Heimpel, Star Fleet, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:

Mazatlan's Star Fleet had good blue marlin action, catching about four blue marlin per week. The biggest was approximately 325 pounds. There are lots of medium dorado and a few wahoo too, today a 53 pounder. Sailfish are abundant, caught mostly on fresh mullet, and we are using bonita baits for the blue marlin. There are lots of jellyfish on the beaches, small blue things with a tail about 8 inches long and a bubble float.

The water temperature in the Mazatlan sportfishing vacation area is at 84 degrees and the seas have been calm. According to local fishermen, bottom fishing is for red snapper, sea bass, corvina, and some snook at the mouths of the local rivers about 25 miles north of Mazatlan.
