GOOD DORADO COUNTS AT BUOYS BUT FEW ANGLERS PRESENT
Sept. 25, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:
It was a very slow angler week in Mexico's Mazatlan fishing area, and the sailfish have slowed up considerably too.
However, dorado are still providing the best fishing action for all Mazatlan boats, including the super pangas, for the fifth straight week. Overall counts for 12 cruiser days and 9 super panga days reflected 3 sailfish and 113 dorado.
Mazatlan climate was warm & a bit humid, partly cloudy, with temperatures from 74 degree nights to 92 daytime high's. Sea conditions in the fishing area were calm, with light surface breezes. The buoys continue to produce the dorado in terrific numbers. Billfish are now about 25-30 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid. The 3 sails were taken on rigged baits while the dorado were consistent on live bait, strip baits and pencil poppers.
