FISHING BOATS CATCH DORADO JUST EAST OF ISLAS SANTA INES
Oct. 19, 2004, Ron Grant, Mulege, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:
Just returned from Mulege. Weather outstanding with low 90s to high 80s during the day cooling to high 60s at night. Water temps still running in the mid to high 70s. Mulege fishing was spotty but holding up nicely.
Dorado fishing still holding up in fair numbers this past week. Spot of choice just a couple of miles due east of Santa Ines Island. All fish were on feathers, any color. Mixed bag as far as size. Out of 11 fish, 5 were small from 4 to 8 pounds. A catch and release by most standards. Six of the dorado were keeps from 12 to 18 pounds.
Yellowtail in deeper holes but most sports fishers are going the short distance for Dorado and leaving the yellows for another day.
Hotel Serenidad in full swing and back to normal operation after summer vacation. Runway just graded and in fine shape.
