DORADO STILL ELUSIVE IN MULEGE SPORTFISHING VACATION WATERS
June 28, 2005, Ron Grant, Mulege, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:
I just returned from Mulege. The weather is turning hot but it's great for beaching and fishing. The water temperature is very warm at the beaches for vacations that include swimming and clamming.
Dorado are still hard to find. Mulege boats are fishing in all directions and if they find the patties they will get some dorado. Feathers, any color, work fine. Live bait is good if you can find the fish. Live bait is now being sold at a dock across the river. If you want larger bait you have to get it yourself just outside the river.
Lots of sailfish are in the Mulege area. They will hit a feather but the larger live bait works great. Most Mulege sportfishing boats are releasing the sailfish. They are small, from 60 pounders to 80 pounders.
The runway at the Hotel Serenidad was in good condition but there are some soft spots to watch out for.
