LOTS OF COMMERCIAL FISHING NETS SEEN IN BAHIA CONCEPCION
Nov. 25, 2005, Doug Pierson, Bahia Concepcion, Baja California Sur, Mexico, Commercial Net Fishing Report:
During my recent tin boat days on Bahia Concepcion there were numerous commercial fishing nets in the area, and what is disturbing is that these nets were deployed my parties who had not netted for several years. Maybe tough economic times?
There were nets of about one mile in length across the mouth of Bahia Concepcion. These were set in the early mornings and retrieved early afternoons. Also Armando, boss at Las Naranjos was netting right in front of the palapas he was renting to gringos for $3,000 a year thus ruining their fishing and the only reason for them to to rent from him.
Also on Playa Arena nets were stretched from the beach each evening and once again the locals reported that this beach had been net free for a year or more. A disturbing trend.
