LOCAL FISHING BOATS CATCH ABUNDANT BARRACUDA AND BONITA PLUS BOTTOM FISH
August 1, 2004, Sam Saenz, Puerto Santo Tomas Resort, Puerto Santo Tomas, Mexico Fishing Report:
Everything is fine and the fishing has been good. The weather and ocean waves were good all week long providing for good fishing conditions. Slight overcast in the mornings and sunny and light winds in the afternoon. Puerto Santo Tomas fishing was good all week long with the surface bite still hitting the rapalas.
Dan Murray and Bill Setz from Fullerton, had a super day yesterday catching full limits of ling cod, rock cod, plus large white fish and abundance of barracuda and bonita.
It was also a good Puerto Santo Tomas fishing day for father and son (James and Ryan Johnson from san Diego) they caught full limits of bottom fish ( large reds), barracuda , bonita and yellowtail up to 25 pounds. They were trolling along the Soledad reef north of Puerto Santo Tomas. Ryan had the fish story of the day, he managed to get two hookups at the same time on one blue rapala, bringing in both fish and finally on his last hook up he lost his magic blue rapala to a large fish that never stop fighting that took his entire line.
