SURFACE AND BOTTOM FISHING BOATS ARE DOING GREAT
Aug. 8, 2004, Sam Saenz, Puerto Santo Tomas Resort, Puerto Santo Tomas, Mexico Fishing:
All week long we had mild overcast in the mornings, clearing by 11 am and off shore winds in the afternoon. The winds were stronger than the last two weeks but manageable. The ocean swells and currents were calm up until Saturday when we encountered heavy under current in the midmorning time frame.
The bottom fishing continues to be excellent with full limits of ling cod, whitefish and rockcod all week long. On the surface Puerto Santo Tomas fishing is still on track, with lots of bait on the water and we have been catching bonita, baracuda and yellowtail almost everyday. Yesterday Jim Morales from LA had a successful day catching bottom fish plus barracuda, Bonita and yellowtail up to 25 pounds. Other pangas caught similar catches while the panguero gill netters caught prized yellow tail in the 40 pound category.
