BARRACUDA AND BONITA CAUGHT IN LOCAL SURFACE FISHING
Sept. 19, 2004, Sam Saenz, Puerto Santo Tomas, Mexico Fishing Fleet Report:
WEATHER CONDITIONS: All week long up to Sunday morning Puerto Santo Tomas fishing weather was summer like, but on Sunday the Pacific weather front blew in causing high winds and huge swells making fishing less desirable.
SURFACE AND BOTTOM FISHING: Up until Friday the white seabass bite was good at Puerto Santo Tomas including catches of yellowtail and lots of Bonita and barracuda, but the bite slacked off on Sunday due to bad weather.
Christian Del Giorgio and Duane Yost and wives from Fullerton Ca. had a good Puerto Santo Tomas fishing day on Saturday catching limits of bottom fish plus large barracuda and some Bonita. Puerto Santo Tomas locals all week long enjoyed a higher number of white sea bass catch as compared to normal on their small gill nets.
