KAYAKS AND PANGAS FISHING FOR GOOD ACTION BETWEEN WINDS
April 10, 2005, Sam Saenz, Puerto Santo Tomas Resort, Puerto Santo Tomas, Mexico Fishing Report:
Monday through Thursday we good weather and excellent fishing .
Friday through Sunday Puerto Santo Tomas had giant swells with high winds, creating hazards and poor fishing conditions.
Several pangas and two kayakers went fishing during the good weather days and came back with excellent results, full limits of bottom fish such as lingcod, rockcod, whitefish and one halibut. The biggest fish for the week was a 15 pound lingcod.
This weekend we had several small groups of kayakers but weather conditions made it impossible to go out fishing on Friday and Saturday. However on Sunday morning they went out for two hours and encountered foul weather. Several fish were caught in the Puerto Santo Tomas bay area including halibut up to five pounds.
Work on the new Puerto Santo Tomas launch ramp completion was halted for a while. Plans are now well underway to restart the second phase of the construction. The second phase will improve design considerations.
