FISHING BOATS LAND SOME GOOD ROOSTERFISH TO 32 POUNDS

Puerto Vallarta fishing has remained on the good to excellent side. Both inshore and offshore action has kept boats busy.

The water temp is in the mid-80s and some cooler temp breaks have been reported and are holding good dorado and sailfish action.

Puerto Vallarta yellowfin tuna action is still at corbetena and el banco with some small (10-25lb) tuna showing up just outside the bay in the el morro area and outside the islands.

The sails and dorados are anywhere from a stone's throw off the beaches to 14 miles out depending on the bite and the day, and are scattered over a large area with a good dorado bite at corbetena early in the week for fish up to 50lbs. When a big bull grabs a 4lb skipjack meant for a marlin you know you have bubba hooked up!!

Puerto Vallarta inshore action on roosterfish was sporadic but red hot when they went on the bite.

Bart Lazzarus of new york fished 2 days and caught and released 11 roosters up to 32 lbs and then filled the rest of the day with bottom fishing the reef areas around Punta Mita and the Marietta Islands for snapper, pargos, and triggerfish on his ultralight spinning gear.

Puerto Vallarta fishing weather is getting better with fewer afternoon storms and a bit cooler in the early morning for the ride out.

The usual baits are getting the fish. Live skipjacks for the marlin and tunas at corbetena and the banks, trolled small to medium lures and mullet skip baits for the sails and dorados, and live goggle eyes or small jacks for the big roosters.
