QUALITY TUNA, SNAPPERS FOR CHARTER FISHING BOAT YOLARAY
July 23, 2005, Thomas Lin, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:
My brother Steve and I fished at Puerto Vallarta on July 15-16-17-18, on the Yolaray with Captain Manny and 1st mate Antonio.
We had a fabulous trip. Noteworthy catches included 3 sailfish released, 1 blue marlin released, 1 tuna at 165 pounds, 3 cubera snappers from 47-59.4 pounds, and 18 pound grouper. We lost 2 good sized tuna, one due to a pulled hook and another due to a broken Tiagra clamp.
The fishing at Puerto Vallarta was steady, but at times slow due to heavy boat pressure as well as presence of a purse seiner.
Weather conditions were good, with 2-4 foot swells and a water temperature of 82 degrees.
