HOT GIANT TUNA, BLUE MARLIN, AND BLACK MARLIN
FISHING WITH PRIME TIME ADVENTURES
Nov. 25, 2006, Josh Temple, Prime Time Adventures, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico:
The fishing this week here in Puerto Vallarta has not been great, it has been epic.
We are enjoying our best bite of the fishing season right now on yellowfin tunas from 200 to 300 plus pounds.
The tunas are eating fin baits around the Puerto Vallarta offshore high spots with abandon and for much of the day it is useless trying to fish more than one or two baits at a time as baits are getting demolished as soon as they hit the water.
Most local charter fishing boats have scored phenomenal catches.
Fishing on Tuesday, we had 3 giant yellowfin from 245 to 275 pounds.
We are beginning to release giant tuna again after a fairly on-again off-again bite for the first part of the season. And let me tell you, when you start throwing 200 plus pounders back you know the bite is on fire.
Blue and black marlin have made a huge showing at Puerto Vallarta this week and Merle Erickson from Chicago was here to enjoy it.
Merle fished with Prime Time Adventures two days, scoring 2 blue marlin on Wednesday, and 3 tunas from 120 to 150 pounds and 2 black marlin estimated at 500 pounds apiece on Friday. That is just unbelievable fishing folks.
Puerto Vallarta fishing area water temperatures continue to climb as the current pushes in from the southwest at an average speed of nearly 2 knots.
There is a ton of bait out there and if you know what you are doing you can expect unbelievable action out there on big marlin and tuna. Christmas is coming early this year, and thank the fish gods for that.
