CHARTER SPORTFISHING BOAT CHELITA BACK IN THE WATER
Dec. 9, 2006, Marisela Hernandez, Chelita's Sportfishing, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico:
Our charter fishing boat Chelita was off for over 3 weeks due to a mechanical problem and upgrade, and she is now back and ready to fish the beautiful waters of Puerto Vallarta!
Fishing on Thursday, December 7th was a trip to La Corbeteña with 2 anglers.
They got few strikes and hooked a Black Marlin which was dancing pretty good. After a short time of fighting, the estimated 300-plus pound Marlin spit the hook out! Oh well the marlin was going to be released by the angler anyways.
About 2 hours latter one of our fishing spools started to scream and a we hooked up another beautiful creature, a Blue Marlin of approximately 350 pounds.
One hour later the fish was brought to the boat for a beautiful catch and release. These fish were caught trolling live skipjack baits.
Fishing on Friday, December 8th, Chelita went out to La Corbeteña in hopes of catching Tuna.
The tuna were not hungry. We tried everything from trolling skippies, balloon and kite fishing with some caballitos, and trolling cedar plugs with feathers.
Nada! No luck for the cow tuna. But, we managed to hook a 50-plus pound yellowfin tuna on live bait. The fighting was 30 minutes and it was lost at the boat.
Shortly after this bite one of the Chelita's anglers hooked up a 30-plus pounds dorado, great ceviche, caught on light tackle.
