TUNA, MARLIN, AND DORADO ACTION ON ALL 3 MARLA'S SPORTFISHING BOATS
Dec. 7, 2006, Murry Vaughn, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico:
I just returned home from one of the best fishing trips of my life in Puerta Vallarta.
I was fortunate enough to spend a few days fishing with the Osuna brothers; Danny, Scott, and Alonso.
We caught and released many Sailfish, Blue Marlin to 400 pounds, a large Yellowfin Tuna Cow estimated to be at least 260 pounds. We also caught Dorado to 40 pounds, Pargo, and smaller Yellowfin tuna to 170 pounds.
For anyone going to Puerto Vallarta, you cannot beat fishing with the Osuna's. They use top quality Loomis rods with the fantastic Avet reels, the combined knowledge of the captain and crew, and great folks who are there to get you fish.
The joy of fishing El Banco and Corbeteña, and to experience the awesome power of those huge fish, is just unbelievable. Combine that with the Mexican weather and superior hospitality, and it just doesn't get any better !
I fished on boats Marla II, Marla III, and Arca de Noe. I got to try them all!
We fished November 27th, 29th, and 30th, and December 2nd.
The ocean temperature at Puerto Vallarta was 87 degrees, flat except for December 2nd, a bit lumpy, with 4 to 5 foot swells. It sure didn't affect the fishing!
In all, we had 3 Sails, 2 Blues, all released, 3 Dorado, 14 takedowns on Tuna, 6 hookups, kept one at 170 pounds, released 2, lost 3, caught several large Pargo, not much of a challenge, but they fight like hell.
