WIDE-OPEN YELLOWFIN TUNA FISHING AT EL BANCO AND ROCA CORBETENA

Dec. 26, 2006, Danny Gomez, Dhamar Sportfishing, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico:

This week the yellowfin tuna fishing at Puerto Vallarta was wide-open for our charter boats, the Marla II with Capt. Danny Osuna, and the Marla III with Capt. Scott Osuna.

One day, we scored 22 yellowfin tunas from 120 pounds up to 250 pounds. These fish are biting and not playing around. Also we had some other outings where we caught a lot of more tuna, marlin, and dorados.

These fish are biting all day on any type of live bait that swims near the pinnacles that we fish off Puerto Vallarta, El Banco and Roca Corbeteña.

All the local Puerto Vallarta charter boats are having a blessed season with all this action happening here in Cow Town.

Puerto Vallarta sportfishing water conditions were a lot of swell and north wind and cool temperatures. The water temperature this week was about 82.5 degrees. It looks like we are going to have a great new year catching big cows.

Dec. 21, 2006:

Lio Tonell from Santa Barbara and Aron Chevere from Santa Barbara in their first fishing day aboard the Marla II with Capt. Danny Osuna landed 6 nice sized yellowfin tunas from 130 pounds to 200-plus pounds while fishing at El Banco in Puerto Vallarta waters. The fish were really nailing any skippies we slow trolled. They are mean. This week the fish are getting bigger and bigger More fish over 200 pounds are being caught.

On the second day of fishing, we missed one angler because he got hurt fishing the big cows.

We again were nailing some big cow tunas. These tunas are running crazy, with 2, 3, or 4 slow trolled live skippies. No matter how many baits we put in the water all of then will get nailed at the same time. The fishing spots are load up with big tunas.

We caught a 4 fish at one time all of them over 200 pounds.

Capt. Scott Osuna from our boat Arca de Doe also had great fishing this week nailing a lot of tunas. Also we had few days when it was too rough to fish with a lot of north wind blowing about 25 knots or more. It was nasty and with big rollers too.
