ARCA DE NOE LANDS 270-POUND BLACK SEA BASS
Oct. 22, 2005, Lloyd Robinette, Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco), Mexico Fishing Trip Report:
I fished on my boat "Arca de Noe" on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 out of Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco), Mexico, at the 51 mile bank.
The anglers were Paul Robinette, Mesa, Arizona; Joe Van Camp, Mesa, Arizona; and Bill and Rick Daughtery of Arizona City.
Paul and Joe each lost 2 large black bass due to 80 pound test leader. Paul got frustrated and tied his hooks directly to the 200 pound test reel line and raised a 270 pound black sea bass.
A friend, Hap Balmis, fishing on "El Gato Blanco" 50 feet to port caught a 250-300 pound black bass with Paul's bait still in its mouth.
A Mexican boat, "Lucky Lady," 20 feet off the bow caught a similarly large black bass with one of Paul's hooks still in its lip.
The fishing water temperature off Rocky Point was 82 degrees, seas calm and a slack tide. We had juvenile whales around the boat all day long approximately 20 feet in length. Nine black bass were caught: Arca de Noe with one; El Gato Blanco with 4 and one released; and Lucky Lady with 5.
