YELLOWTAIL FISHING SLOWS AS WATER TEMPERATURES FALL TO 63 DEGREES

March 26, 2005, Bill Molden, San Carlos, Mexico Fishing Report:

The fishing at San Carlos has certainly slowed with the yellowtail bite on the wane. The last two weeks have been windy in the afternoons, with seas running 4-feet plus so not many San Carlos folks have been venturing out to the island. The San Carlos fishing water temperatures were on the rise at 67-68 degrees, but that too has been falling to 63-64. Daytime temperatures have been in the low to mid 70's dropping off to the low to mid 50's in the afternoon. My guess is that the San Carlos sportfishing area is about to turn over with the Dorado right behind. It won't be long now.

There has been some decent bottom fishing around San Carlos with some reports of 50-pound Grouper, but that too is a bit tough if you are out on the reef at 11 miles.
