A QUIET JUNE WEEK WITH FEW VACATIONERS IN TOWN
June 20,2004, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Report:
Hard to belive we're headed down the home stretch of June? unbelievable!
Hola everyone from the quiet little fishing village of San Felipe.....June is always a well kept secret here....and this year it's no different....the last few days have been perfect...temps (both air and water) generally in the high 80's...with a calm sea and a breeze coming up in the late afternoon on most days. San Felipe nights have been cooler than the days...but not as cool as they were....I have had to turn the AC's on a couple of times at night.... It's quiet at San Felipe because there aren't many people in town....and most of the snow-birds have gone back up North.
The swimming is great right now (I'm told).....and quite a few people have been into the store recently inquiring about Kayaks for rent.... But our quiet San Felipe Junes may be coming to an end...someone showed me a brochure the other day advertising a new resort/condo center which apparently has ALREADY been started....it is to go on the beach front just down from Las Missiones...and is gigantic! it will have it's own deli, mini-mart, mini-mall...two swimming pools, swim- up bars, the works!....supposedly it will be complete in only two years....I, as well as many others, have mixed feelings about things like that....like the man said: "you can't stop progress".... Anyway, today the tide is way out, and there are people strolling on the hard-packed sand, and the sky is clear blue...and all is serene here in the book store by the bay.
