LOTS OF VACATION TRAVELERS IN TOWN THIS WEEK
Feb. 6, 2005, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, , San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico:
At San Felipe it's Carnaval AND the 80th Anniversary of the founding of the Port. You can just imagine the festivity level! For the first time in recent memory the weather is neither windy nor rainy! (It is almost a tradition here that the parade gets rained on.) The temperature on the balcony is 84 degrees, and the humidity is 45%, although it doesn't feel like it.
The water is about 65 degrees, but I spoke to some visitors yesterday who said they had attempted going swimming and it was a little too cold. The bay right now is calm and clear blue under a partly cloudy sky. There are many many people in town and the vendors are doing a brisk business. There is music playing at the stage just down from the balcony, and of course yesterday there was traditional folk-dancing all afternoon. There will be a parade this afternoon and dancing all over town tonight as things go into full swing. I have so many people in the store this morning that I hardly have time to write this. Until next time, Vaya con Dios from the bookstore by the bay.
