POPPA NEUTRINO BUILDING SEAGOING
RAFT FOR CORTEZ VOYAGE
Feb. 20, 2005, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Town Report:
Hola everyone from San Felipe, where we are at last having a sunny day, although there are a few clouds around. Yesterday it rained on and off all day, but this morning it is 64 degrees on the balcony and the humidity is about 50%. The water at San Felipe today is calm and cobalt blue. Yesterday we had significant white caps when the wind came up pretty strongly in the afternoon.
San Felipe is getting ready for the big weekend coming up. The BAJA 250 starts next Friday, tech day, and the race itself is on Saturday. San Felipe will be crammed with support people and observers, and the vendors will be very happy.
The raft building on the San Felipe beach continues as "Poppa Neutrino" gets set for his venture South. He is talking about a mid-March launching, but so far nothing is fixed. We will keep you informed. The weather channels are all predicting yet more rain for San Felipe for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but hopefully things will have dried out somewhat by Saturday so the 250 will not take place entirely in the mud (not that the racers would be bothered by that...) Until next time, vaya con Dios from the bookstore by the bay.
