OVERLAND BAJA TRIP TO GONZAGA BAY AND ALFONSINA'S
March 23, 2005, Jim Davis, Gonzaga Bay, Baja California, Mexico Road Trip Report:
We did a vehicular recon last weekend down to Bahia Gonzaga looking for new launch spots.
The ramp at Puertecitos is in excellent shape. The road south from San Felipe looked doable for my SeaPro on it's three axle trailer. No gas at Puertecitos. I'm planning a hunt outa there in a week or two.
Met a gringo coming in from the reef with a nice load of five to ten pound Yellowtail and some nice Gold Spotted Bass.
Met another gringo at Alfonsina's at Gonzaga that motored down there from Puertecitos and had bagged another load of same size Yellowtail and Gold Spotted Bass.
Water at both beaches was crystal clear and in the mid sixties.
Near shore bait shoals were everywhere with hundreds of Frigate Birds working on them. We saw seven Finback Whales less than a mile from the beach working the bait as well.
