PANGA MOTHERSHIP TONY REYES FISHES AT LA PAZ
April 10, 2005, Tony Reyes Jr., Tony Reyes Fishing Tours, La Paz, Baja California, Mexico Mothership Fishing Report:
The Tony Reyes sailed from San Felipe to Isla Santa Cruz the first day of our La Paz fishing trip. We caught live bait and started fishing. We caught some yellowtail to 33 pounds, and cabrillas up to 24 pounds. Then we moved to Isla Catalina where we caught more cabrilla and released a marlin.
The wind blew a couple of days because of a low pressure system in the northwest. Later, the weather got better. We fished at Animas Island for more yellowtail caught there with live bait in 200 feet of water. The average size was 25 to 33 pounds for the yellowtail.
The water temperature was 70 to 76 degrees. Luis Constance of Phoenix caught a 138 pound grouper, fishing with guide Jorge Valenzuela at Isla San Francisquito.
I feel very proud because my father, Tony Reyes Sr., was on the trip with us, and it made the trip a lot of fun. Thanks to everybody who came with us to La Paz. Some of the fish species we caught were: yellowtail, cabrilla, pargo, grouper, marlin, golden grouper, jack crevalle, and others.
