LOTS OF VISITORS AND TRAFFIC IN TOWN
May 1, 2005, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Report:
Hola from San Felipe where it is a beautiful day. Right now the temperature on the balcony is 77 degrees and it's only 10 a.m. looks like it will probably go up a bit. The humidity is 36 percent at San Felipe, but it doesn't feel like it and the bay is cerulean blue and calm. The sky is light blue with a thin haze, all in a mid 70s temperature. Very nice.
The tide is in right now, but yesterday there were MANY people in the water as it receded and undoubtedly there will be today. There is mucho activity today, and there has been all weekend.
Yesterday there was the C.O.D.E. race with lots of participation, and today is International Workers Day, so there was a parade honoring that. Plus somewhere in the middle of all this came El Dia De Los Ninos, with truckloads of small ones being driven up and down the streets of San Felipe.
The San Felipe malecon was blocked off yesterday and traffic was being directed through the main entrance on Chetumal with much confusion. But most people were in good moods anyway. There are crowds of people here to celebrate these various events, with plenty of partying. Well, that's a main attraction of this town. San Felipe goes back and forth between utter tranquility and Mardi Gras fever, a little something for everyone. Hasta la vista y vaya con Dios amigos from the San Felipe bookstore by the bay.
