JOSE ANDRES MOTHERSHIP TRIP
FINDS SLOW YELLOWTAIL FISHING

May 8-13, 2005, Fily Espinoza, Tony Reyes Fishing Tours, Jose Andres, San Felipe, Mexico Panga Mothership Fishing Report:

Fish count: : 65 yellowtail, 18-25 lbs.; two white seabass, 15-16 lbs.; 173 cabrilla, 8-11 lbs.; 50 squid, 8-14 lbs.; 16 red snapper, 10-14 lbs.; three broomtail grouper, 12 lbs.; six sheephead, 8 lbs.; many large spotted bay bass; and 95 misc.

From San Felipe, the Jose Andres sailed to San Francisquito. Fishing was slow for yellowtail. The water temperature wa 58 degrees.

On the second day, the Jose Andres fished Isla San Esteban, where the cabrilla fishing was very good. John Strenk of Mission Viejo caught a 14-pound cabrilla. Trolled pink MirrOlures and blue-white jigs were the top producers.

On the third day of fishing out of San Felipe, the Jose Andres fished north of Bahia de los Angeles, where the water temperature was 68 degrees, and yellowtail were caught.

On the fourth day, the Jose Andres fished the Gonzaga Bay area, and fishing was fair.

The last day before returning to San Felipe, the boat fished at the Golden Reef. Yellowtail and pargo, along with a few white seabass were caught. Yellowtail action was very good. Overall, the trip was a success.
