JUST A FEW TOURISTS IN TOWN THIS WEEK
May 15, 2005, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Town Report:
Hola everyone from HOT San Felipe. Yes folks, the latest couple of days at San Felipe have been just gorgeous. For instance right now it's 10 a.m. and the temperature on the bookstore balcony is over 90 degrees and rising. It will certainly hit the predicted 96 degrees. The water temperature is a terrific 80 degrees, and it's calm as a mill pond, as my mother would have said.
Yesterday there were dozens of people in the water and there are sure to be today. The paleta sellers are cleaning up. The humidity is not too bad at 39 percent and last night the temperature went down to about 67 degrees, so sleeping is still fairly cool. The projected forecast is for much sunshine and temperatures in the mid-90's everyday except Tuesday which should be partly cloudy and a little cooler.
This week, San Felipe has been slow tourist-wise, but we are gearing our heads for Memorial Day weekend which is coming up at lightening speed. Mexican Mother's Day was wonderful for me. I got flowers from several different treasured friends, but the most touching was a beautiful bouquet of roses from the family that Ed and I have known for 11 years now. They are among the most hardworking of the families in town. Every year I tell myself that I am NOT going to cry. I never succeed. Until next time...vaya con Dios, from the San Felipe bookstore by the bay.
