COMMERCIAL SHRIMP FISHING
SEASON IS IN FULL SWING

Hola everyone from San Felipe where the weather is still teetering between summer, fall and winter. This morning it is 78 degrees on the balcony and the humidity is about 43 percent, which feels pretty stifling. But, the water is calm and has cooled off to the low 80's and there is no wind so far.

Altogether, San Felipe weather has been very nice for the last three days. Last Sunday and Monday it looked very much like we were in for a rain storm, but though we had lightening there was no rain to speak of down here. However, Ed and I drove up to San Diego last Sunday afternoon and just past the check point by Route 3, the Ensenada Road.

We were hit by a blinding rain storm that lasted all the way to San Diego. There was an hour and a half delay at the eastern border crossing and as we sat there it started hailing on us, really bizarre! Have heard that three of the lanes at the old border crossing from Mexicali to Calexico are going to be closed for installation of security machines for the next few weeks staring tomorrow). This means that there will be heavy congestion and much more time waiting, probably at both crossover points. We need to allow more travel time to compensate.

The San Felipe shrimp season is in full swing and people are saying they are especially good this year, and at last there seem to be more people coming down which is good news for everyone. Until next week, vaya con Dios from the bookstore by the bay.
