MIDRIFF TRIP ON THE PANGA MOTHERSHIP TONY REYES
Oct. 22, 2005, Ray Reyes, Tony Reyes, San Felipe, Mexico Panga Mothership, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico fishing Report:
"To start with, we were coming from Southern California. My group had never been on the fishing boat Tony Reyes out of San Felipe. The entire crew is very helpful and willing to make your trip the best. We didn't know what to expect but we were very satisfied and will be telling everyone we know about the great time we had.
We started out fishing for bait, mackerel, and found it as easy as placing your line in the water and immediately pulling up with 3-4 on line. We used the bait for catching tons of Yellowtail and Cabrilla.
The next night we fished for Giant Squid. That was the most memorable night for me. The fun of trying to pull in the squid and trying to avoid the ink and water made it even more challenging. Squid was used for the remainder of the trip for bait, as well as more mackerel when available.
The Sea of Cortez provided our trip with yellowtail, Cabrillas, Red Snapper, Sheep Head, Spotted Bass and one very large Grouper weighing in at 110 pounds caught by Wolfgang Prill of San Bernardino, CA., who even ate its heart. We'll be back next Oct. for another week of fishing and fun.
