TOWN HOLDS ANNUAL PARADE OF LIGHTS
Dec. 11, 2005, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Town Report:
Hola everyone, from San Felipe. Today it is cold, to us folk anyway. The thermometer on the balcony says 51 degrees, although it feels cooler than that because the humidity is 27 percent and the sky is overcast and hanging low, almost on the point of threatening rain. San Felipe has had wind this week too. Yesterday was warmer and you could find places in the direct sun where it felt very nice. Last night, though, I had to put extra blankets on the bed and today most people are staying indoors.
San Felipe's Parade of Lights on the sixth was very elaborate, with lots of brightly lit floats and the big truck up front was really spectacular. It's too bad that more gringos didn't know about it. Lots of people came into the store the next day having had no idea that it was going to take place. It would have meant more business for the restaurants in town that evening. It's a shame these things don't get more publicity.
"Steel Magnolias," which is being performed this weekend by the San Felipe Players is a mega hit. Everyone is just raving about it. Congratulations thespians! We know how much very hard work it takes. Until next time...vaya con Dios all...from the bookstore by the bay.
