YELLOWTAIL LIMITS CAUGHT ON
CHARTER BOATS ROMMY AND GARRON

Aug. 22, 2004, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin fishing, Baja California, Mexico:

This proved to be an excellent week of San Quintin fishing. We had over 30 San Quintin boats making it out. Of particular note were friends Tony Gomes, Ken McGarry, Chris Paurazas (all from San Diego, CA) fishing together with Steve Waters, Dale Anderson, and J.R. Rodriguez (all from Vista, CA).

They fished out of San Quintin 2 days on the Romey and Garron with Captain Hector and Captain Alex. On their first day, they chose some surface action, bringing back in limits of yellowtail (18 to 20 lbs) and some very nice barracuda and large bonita. On the 2nd day, they decided for bottom fish, landing limits of rock cod and ling cod.

All other San Quintin fishing boats continue to bring in great white seabass and limits of calicos and sandies at San Ramon.

The tuna and albys are still disappointing. This week one private boat went out approximately 30 miles in search of tuna. Not much to report though--they only brought back in three (3) very small "football" size (probably 12 lbs.).

San Quintin air temps in the mornings have been 75 degrees, warming to the mid-80's by afternoon. San Quintin water temperatures have been 68 to 70 degrees.
