LOTS OF LINGCOD CAUGHT NORTH OF THE BAY WITH CAPT. PANCHO
Aug. 21, 2004, Ray Madrid, San Quintin sportfishing, Baja California, Mexico:
I along with Bill Alexander and his brother John went to San Quintin. This was our first time to San Quintin. We were on my Bill's boat "Hard Eight" a 22' Bayrunner. We hired a San Quintin fishing captain to help shows us the area and how to navigate the bay.
The first day we went North of San Quintin about 4 miles to fish for White Seabass and Yellowtail. We tried various jigs, but the blue & white Ironman #3 hooked 5. We only landed 2 about 22 pounds each.
The water temp was colder than I thought it would be at 60.
No Y/T but we got plenty of big Sandbass using plastics and jigs. We also got a few Bonito and Cuda's.
On Tuesday we made bait in the San Quintin harbor and headed North about 5 miles for Lingcods. We got 19 lingcod with lots of Reds and Whitefish using Rockcod ganions laced with squid.
Water temp was 61. Had a good time and will be back.
We fished 8-16 & 17. The Capt name is Pancho from Tito's Panga's. We stayed at Don Eddies's Landing.
