HOT WEATHER, CALM SUMMER SEAS, BUT STILL JUST A FEW TUNA
Sept. 19, 2004, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin sportfishing, Baja California, Mexico:
San Quintin fishing weather this week was mid-90's to over 100 on some days. There was little or no wind, and the seas were calm. San Quintin water temps remain 68 to 70 degrees but still very few or no tuna at all. The ones that are being caught are still small yellowfin tuna.
We had 24 boats out this week. Mark O'Brien from Mesa, AZ brought family Rich, Erin and Kyle O'Brien, from the San Diego area and fished on the Pelicano with Captain Miguel. They brought in limits of yellowtail and white seabass from Socorro.
As of Sunday morning, Steve Barstow's bus trip to San Quintin with 17 anglers took all boats Saturday, fished Socorro for nice white seabass, with limits of calico and sand bass but just a few yellowtail. San Quintin fishing boats were heading north to the 240 and San Martin to try for yellowtail and lingcod.
