WHITE SEABASS AND YELLOWTAIL LIMITS FOR PEDRO'S PANGAS BOATS

Sept. 26, 2004, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

This week we had 20 San Quintin fishing boats out for some great white seabass, yellowtail, and lings.

Paul Brewer along with Mary Mismuff (Orange County, CA) and Larry Marks (Bellflower, CA) fished out of San Quintin on the Romey with Captain Hector for 2 days and brought in great limits of white seabass, calicos, and sand bass fishing at Socorro.

Don Busse and Mary Scherger (Lakewood, CA) also got limits of white seabass and yellowtail also at Socorro south of San Quintin. They were on the Coyote with Captain Miguel.

The largest San Quintin white seabass brought in this week was at 34 lbs and the largest yellowtail was 22 lbs. This week the San Quintin barracuda were large but way too many. All of our anglers complained of these guys cutting lines and causing one of our groups to lose as many as 12 jigs.

A private boat found a school of small yellowfin between 10 and 15 miles off the San Quintin point on a westerly heading. The largest yellowfin was 10 lbs. Although small, they were plentiful--making easy limits for anglers. As of Sunday morning, we were sending out 3 San Quintin fishing boats to see if we could find a school of larger fish.
