BARRACUDA AND BONITA AT THE SAN QUINTIN 240 SPOT
Oct. 14, 2004, Tim Moore, Go Baja, San Quintin, Baja fishing, Mexico:
This was a report a two day San Quintin fishing trip that the online fishing club Senortuna with a group of five anglers and two tourists took with me.
Their trip started on 10/8 with fishing on 10/9 and 10/10 and returning on 10/10. They had around 50 fish total, some fish didn't fit in the chest with the lid on.
On Saturday Oct. 9th George Valenzuela of Irvine and Mel and Rosie Shimizu of Los Angeles headed out of San Quintin, fishing toward the 240 spot and San Martin Island in a cruiser out of Tiburon's Panga's in search of tuna and yellowtail but only found barracuda and bonita.
Glen Cheh of Whittier and John Yong of Anaheim headed south of San Quintin village to Socorro in a panga with captain Oscar Catian looking for white sea bass but couldn't get through the barracudas and bonitas to land anything else.
On Sunday Oct. 10th, George Valenzuela headed out on the San Quintin super panga "Cucajuan" with Capt. Sapo and Mel and Rosie Shimizu along with George's granddaughter, seven year-old Bailey Phillips of Redondo Beach, CA for her first panga fishing trip. They headed to an unspecified fishing area south of Socorro to load up on big reds, lings and a few white fish for good measure. Glen Cheh and John Yong headed south of the village as well but came up with only a hand full of fish, five reds and four white fish.
