CALM SEAS AND A GOOD WINTER YELLOWTAIL FISHING

December 13, 2004, Julio Meza, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

I fished out of San Quintin with my brother Elias Meza, and his wife Anabel and kids Elias Jr. (3) and Hanna Isabel (1 1/2). On Sunday, Dec. 12, on board the Santa Monica, we fished for the usual good winter San Quintin yellowtail bite and we had a beautiful day with calm seas, 61.5 degree water, clear blue. Using G-Loomis rods on Trinidad 20 and 30 reels and iron jigs, we fished San Quintin's 240, 15 and 6 spots for a total of 17 yellows from 12 to 18 pounds. We fished every bottom drop where we metered some action, from 140 to 180 feet deep.
