LINGCOD, YELLOWTAIL, AND BOTTOM FISH AT SAN QUINTIN

Dec. 23, 2004, Eddie Marquez, Don Eddie's Landing, San Quintin, Baja fishing, Mexico:

The fishing weather in San Quintin was mostly calm in the high 70s at the fishing grounds, with water temperatures of 60 to 63 degrees, cloudy mornings clearing around 10 a.m.

Peter, James, and Danny Park from Granada Hills, Calif., fished at San Quintin out of Don Eddie's Landing on their 21-foot Striper. They fished from the 20th of December to the 22nd of December, with a catch of 18 yellowtail up to 20 pounds, 36 lingcod from 8 to 12 pounds, 82 reds (rockcod), 12 whites and 1 sheephead. The yellowtail were caught at 140 to 120 feet deep at the San Quintin 6 and 15 fishing spots. The reds were caught at the 240 spot.

Danny Park and his team used iron jigs and live bait to catch the yellowtail, live bait for the lingcod, and frozen squid for the reds, and as they parted from San Quintin they told us they would be back next week.
