EAST CAPE BOATS RUNNING 40 TO 50 MILE OUT
FOR LYNN ROSE FISHING TOURNAMENT

Oct. 16, 2004, Chuck Meredith, East Cape fishing conditions, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

The Lynn Rose East Cape tournament has all the hotel boats going out 40 to 50 miles in search of tuna, and billfish mixed in with them. No one is fishing where they fished a week ago, since the fish are all caught from there. No fish have come up from the South to replace them yet. Any fish schools show, and there are 200 East Cape fishing cruisers on them. Actually slim pickings presently. I fished off the lighthouse, trolled lures, drifted live bait, dead bait, and nothing worked. A liquid desert. Finally went and bottom fished in 230 feet of water, in front of Punta Colorada, and caught some bottom fish for dinner. Water temp was 83.5 am to 85 in pm.
