MARLIN WINS FIRST PLACE IN ENSENADA FISHING TOURNAMENT

Sept. 18, 2005, Steve Ross, Bad Dog, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico:

We had great luck yesterday in the local Ensenada fishing tournament! Fishing on board Bad Dog were owners Steve and Gail Ross, guest Juan Lu Cardona-Sepulveda, and Marinero Alex "Jando" Ruiz. In 69 degree blue water Gail caught a 136 pound striped marlin on a jig north of Todos Santos Island and Jando caught a 19 pound yellowtail off a kelp paddy on a live mackerel. Gail's marlin won first place in Ensenada's premier tournament and Jando's yellowtail took third, winning a dozen Shimano reels valued at $2,700.

Club Nautico de Rosarito in Puerto Ensenada hosted the VII Torneo International de Pesca Deportiva Verano 2005 with over 300 anglers, live bands, food by the University of Conalep Culinary Academy, all you can drink of Mexico Viejo tequila, wine tastings hosted by L.A. Cetto Winery, the Presidente of Ensenada, the Secretary of Tourism, many local celebrities, local press and live television coverage. It was the largest and most exciting sportfishing tournament I have ever experienced in my life. I wouldn't miss it next year.
