FISHING WATER TEMPERATURES FALL 10 DEGREES

March 25, 2005, Stan Lushinsky, Ixtapa Sportfishing Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Fishing Report:

The fishing water temperature at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo fell by about 10 degrees and the fishing slid right into the doldrums over the past week. According to Abel Cortez, the offshore fishing at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo was very difficult with the entire fleet reporting a total of only 4 sailfish. The "Vamonos III" fished offshore for 3 days and produced only a single sailfish for their efforts.

Inshore fishing has been fair, but still much slower than the norm. "Dos Hermanos" fished a single day for 10 bonito, 4 chulas and 10 yellowtail jacks and the "Leydy" also reporting for 1 day reflected 2 yellowtail jacks, 1 chula and 6 bonito. "Gran Jefe", reporting for 2 Ixtapa Zihuatanejo fishing days, reflected 1 dorado, 7 bonito, 2 needlefish, 1 chula and 3 yellowtail jacks.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo weather was warm and partly cloudy, ranging from 67 nights to 90 daytime highs. Cold water persists from inshore to offshore, varying from 71 degrees inshore to 73 offshore.
