SPORTFISHING PANGAS AVERAGING 2 OR 3 DORADO OR WAHOO PER DAY

Aug. 7, 2004, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, La Paz, Mexico Fishing:

From Punta las Arenas we report this week, in this area the fishing was better than the week before, as in the last three days we have caught dorado of 20 to 25 pounds, as well as wahoo of 30 to 40 pounds.

Our Las Arenas pangas averaged two to three fish of these kinds per day. We fished for the wahoo in the area around the south point of Isla Cerralvo, and for the dorado in the area south of Boca del Alamo, and also from Rancho las Cruces to the north end of Isla Cerralvo.

On Saturday, today, some pangas caught small tuna, but nothing big for the moment. Las Arenas weather has been very nice, about 80 to 96 degrees, and the water is just as nice, with a temperature of 78 to 82 degrees. We are expecting the large tuna and larger dorado to arrive soon. There are large roosterfish here also around the Las Arenas fishing beaches, but they are resting, since nobody is fishing for them.
