WINDY FISHING CONDITIONS ON THE LAS ARENAS SIDE

Dec. 2, 2006, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

We had some big changes in the weather at La Paz this week, with air temperatures dropping into the 70s, and with strong winds from the north at the end of the week which made it impossible to go out fishing offshore on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

But, fortunately we were able to fish in the area around El Sargento, where we caught good numbers of sierra and pargo mulato. Also, fishing around Punta Perico, we had an excellent day for cabrilla of 12 to 15 pounds.

Bait is now located around El Sargento in great quantity and fishing is very good in that area.

Today, on Sunday, we had reports of more afternoon north wind, and it seems that this will again make fishing difficult offshore around Isla Cerralvo since the sea will be too rough to cross.

The group of Sr. Garo Mouhibian lost some fishing days due to bad weather, but today they all had an excellent day with sierra, pargos, and cabrilla.
